While I am passionate about creating beautiful styles, I take equal responsibility for well-being. I am mindful of how my business affects clients and the environment. My mission statement, ''To provide both a professional and ethical hairdressing service''.
Modern culture sets strong examples of ideal beauty, in the press, on social media and through adverts. I prefer to showcase your individual beauty and simply take care of your hair. I don't sell you services or products that you don't need. Instead, I offer realistic options for your hair type and encourage styles that celebrate your features. I hope to remind you that you are already beautiful. This is healthy for your self-esteem and I strive to help you nurture your own values.
Many salon brands create products with synthetic ingredients and high chemical content, which I am against. I am mindful of the implications of using products with high levels of synthetics and only work with professional products that are carefully regulated and naturally derived.
The Natulique professional colour range is 98.2% derived from natural sources. Chemical and synthetic levels are kept to the minimum required for colour change and gives outstanding results. I skin test for allergies prior to colour services.
Products for styling
I use products from both Natulique and Alterna ranges. Alterna is a professional range with care and attention to kind, pure ingredients and gives outstanding results. For customers that prefer organic, vegan friendly hair care, I use Natulique.
Impact on the environment
I have adopted Natulique products not only for professional results, but also because the company take their corporate and environmental responsibility seriously. The ethos is reflected in their packaging, manufacturing methods and ongoing development of a sustainable, organic future.
Alterna Bamboo products bottles are recyclable and they farm their organic certified bamboo with a commitment to responsible practices and fair trade.
I recycle product packaging and I am currently looking into new ways of caring for the environment including hair composting, reducing energy consumption and lowering my car emissions.
Typically, the hairdressing industry dictates the way consumers should look and influences clients to subscribe to it's trends at any cost. I don't agree that the cost should be unhealthy product ingredients, erosion of self-worth, damage to our planet or compromise to the lives of our animals. I stand proud as a responsible service provider, mindful of the pitfalls of my industry and strive to be part of the solution.
